First allow me to point out that the race was delayed a hour due to cloud to ground lightening. The near by church opened its doors as shelter to thousands of runners as we waited out the worst of it.  















Finally it was time to make our way to the start line.

TATUR hosted the annual snake run - (aka running of the snakes) and I chose to volunteer in lieu of running since I had the A2A half marathon the following day.

Granted in comparison to the Biggest looser this loss pails in comparison. But lets look at it like this, one bag of sugar is 4lbs.

On Saturday we had our first formal training run for the upcoming OKC memorial marathon. 

This time I am co-run leading with a good friend of mine who has several half marathons under her belt. I am really excited about this training session! Our Group is "Chasin' Booty" (My co-run leader and I are pirate fans - arrrrr).

Bringing me to a total of 15lbs weight loss since January.

It has been a hard struggle and this puts me approximately half way to where I would like to be.

We had a record number of attendees (over 2,500 participants – who knows how many spectators! ). Few injuries, and no major incidents! It was a blast.

In spite of me saying that there was no way in hell I would ever run the mud run I did it. And I loved it! It was a blast! It was messy, slippery, slimy, wet, and FUN!

I promptly popped in at Runners World Tulsa and had my feet refitted for running shoes, I am now the proud owner of a new pair of Asics GT – 2150. Don’t mess with perfection ;-). During the week I eat ‘good’ mind my caloric intake – replace electrolytes as necessary and in general don’t give my self a pass to eat garbage. I do good.
Fridays are my ‘good weekend day’ light meal, early to bed. I have a 5AM wake time for my Saturday morning run.

My couch to 5K group is doing great! As a matter of fact on Saturday they ran a full 3 miles. Three miles may not sound like much until you stop and think this is their third week of training!

Not to mention a busy busy weekend.

Tuesday I started to experience some pretty intense pain in the font of my legs.  This is a new thing.. after asking around the general consensus seems to be shin splints. Lovely. The pain seems to get worse when I try to go faster. I plan on taking it easy this week and pushing hard again on Saturday.

In addition to the plan for me to run a half marathon this fall I have volunteered to be a 15K run leader for Tulsa Run Training. 
Have I ever ran a 15K? No. Can I do it. Yes. If Coach Kathy says I can I can and I will. 9.3 miles in downtown Tulsa. I am still really enjoying running. As the night progressed I tried to get in running time where possible. At one point I overheard people saying that they were going to try to keep pace with the ‘runner’ and didn’t think much of it, didn’t look to see who else was running. Distance, not time.</title><summary type='text'>Ok so this running in the summer thing is just not making me happy. I still like to run but I hate, hate, hate seeing my miles take longer now that I have been a runner for almost 6 months. It annoys me to no end that the people I was running next to are now able to push harder and run faster. So what do I do? Push too hard and nearly make myself ill. I know logical right?

I got the neoprene double pouch and I L-O-V-E it. I did not notice much bounce as I ran, my crackberry was nice and dry and the belt did not move around when I ran. I had heard it would be a good idea to calibrate the sensor before using it, but I didn’t bother because the user manual said that I would likely be fine. I know I want a interactive id but I am stuck on two points. Do I want the ankle id or the wrist id elite? 

And then the color selection. If I get the elite should I go with my favorite color or orange, or just a standard black since I am likely to never take it off?

This week we ran / walked 3 miles and I feel like I could have gone one more. Now running 3 times weekly with my group is a treat for me that I look forward to each time. It is me time, fun time, and just great. Running is addictive.

People running with perfume on. When running in groups you are in close proximity to other runners it is really not kind to marinate yourself in the stuff. For as long as I can remember when I run I would get a stabbing pain in my side. Typically after walking for a minute or two it would subside, but not yesterday. Yesterday I RAN.

I was able to run each time the group did and only had to stop running once and walk and that was on our final 'run period' (we have been running 1 min, walking 1 min and repeat.)
